It is clear to me, this far into the primary election season, that it is no longer possible to get much substance out of most candidates. However, humor abounds. I just wanted to share with you, dear reader, an insightful piece from my favorite magazine, the New Yorker. Does this tickle your funny bone, or is the reality a little too chilling? I’m interested. You can tell me.
Still Skeptical After All These Years 
A little from column A, and a little from column B. I found it amusing, then I found it chilling. Now, I’m going downstairs to make a hot drink and hope that Trump’s ego and ignorance start fighting and kill him.

It appears, to me at least, that Trump is the veritable apotheosis of American politics. Equal parts photogenic, avaricious, ignorant, egotistical, and blustering; and all of it 11 on the Richter scale. He’s like a flaming derailed train carrying puppies and kittens, crashing into a children’s hospital. You don’t want to watch, but you can’t look away, and the scope of the tragedy is almost beyond comprehension.

Yes, he’s all that. Well described. Trump’s playing The Art of the Deal, shimo. If he wins, and he could, he will be like the dog who finally caught the car. The primary campaign season is America’s top-rated reality show. How embarrassing.

Thanks for that funny piece. It is impossible to get substantive information out them in this current polit-ertainment industry. Everything is a reality/survival show 24/7.

Oh, I missed this in the magazine – glad I caught it here. Yes, both, Jim. Last I heard from our local newspaper, Trump was being sued by former “students” but i havne’t kept up, don’t know where that is now. It’s still not clear to me whether Trump or Cruz would be more disasterous.

Either alone is bad, what would be worse is a Trump/Cruz match-up. Although I think that if you put those two egos in close proximity for long enough, one would wind up killing the other.

Frank, I hope you are not underestimating the depth of scorn with which many Republicans view Hillary. It has little to do with substance and much to do with misogyny. Hope I’m wrong. This year’s contests are not politics as usual, needless to say.

I agree, and I wonder what would happen if there is a terrorist threat in October. Many many voters would suddenly think, Cant’ have a woman in charge here, so regardless of whether it’s Trump or Cruz, the fear might tilt more independents toward that ticket. These are scary times.

Both. Truly Donald Trump scares the BeJeezus out of me. In part he does so because there are enough previously thought to be semi-intelligent people who will pull the lever for him, I can only shake my head in wonder and be thoroughly stupefied by their ‘logic’. Then there are those, including independents and Democrats who will vote for him simply because they ‘hate’ Hilary. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like Hilary either. I don’t like that she was the pre-ordained nominee of the Democratic party either. But I would never elect Donald Trump simply as a protest.
I fear him. I fear what he would do to this nation.

I agree that Trump is dangerous. My take on him is a man who started rich and got richer by being arrogant and aggressive with his money, kind of like someone playing Monopoly who gets a few good early rolls of the dice and gains hotels early. He clearly hasn’t thought this politics thing through, as evidenced by the flap over his stumble yesterday. I’m talking about his opinion that, if abortions become illegal (as his party intends), should women who get illegal abortions be punished? His campaign office quickly revoked his initial affirmative after he spoke, but it’s clear that anything’s possible with this guy. He flies by the seat of his pants.

This was great, but I can do so much better. Many people say I am very funny, and I have a great brain, and I could do humor so much better than anyone else. New Yorker is a total failure and they could barely manage three questions – but me, I could do ten questions, easy! And did I mention how funny I am?
